How I Learned To Quit The iPhone And Love Google Voice
-
TechCrunch
And this myTouch phone (which T-Mobile has supplied to me for free for a test period) is an excellent piece of hardware. I believe it is superior to the iPhone 3GS - it loads the camera app and video app faster, and web pages load in about 2/3 the time it takes on the iPhone/AT&T (likely more AT&T’s fault than the iPhone). The Android apps are far more interesting because they have the ability to integrate with any native function (so, for example, Google Voice, banned on the iPhone, has taken over the myTouch native dialer). And I can run persistent apps in the background like Google Talk, which lets me keep a chat window open to contacts all the time.

T-Mobile USA debuts myTouch 3G
-
FierceWireless
T-Mobile USA launched its second phone based on Google's Android platform, the myTouch 3G, amid a flurry of other late-summer smartphone launches. The launch of the myTouch 3G solidifies T-Mobile's position as the leading carrier proponent of Android in the United States. However, other wireless carriers, including Sprint Nextel and Verizon Wireless, have stated their intentions to launch Android devices.
The HTC-made myTouch 3G is essentially a rebranded HTC Magic. The smartphone features a 3.2-inch HVGA touchscreen display, no physical keyboard and a 3.2-megapixel camera. The myTouch 3G also has WiFi capabilities, video playback and a music player that comes pre-loaded with a 4 GB microSD card. The gadget will sell for $199.99 with a two-year service contract.
Additionally, T-Mobile is launching its own application bundle in Google's Android Market, called AppPack. Applications in the offering include Sherpa, imeem mobile and Movies by Flixster, plus T-Mobile applications including myAccount, myFaves, HotSpot Locator and Visual Voicemail.

myTouch 3G Review: T-Mobile’s Sexier Android Phone
-
LAPTOP Magazine: The Pulse of Mobile Technology
T-Mobile’s myTouch 3G units should be shipping out to T-Mobile customers that pre-ordered the phone. But before you buy, you might want to check out our full review of the phone, which we just published.
It’s our favorite Android device yet, and while that’s not saying much considering there are only two on the market, we think first-time smart phone owners will dig its slim and curved form factor and its tight integration with Google. The myTouch 3G is much thinner than the G1, but you’ll have to give up the G1’s spacious keyboard for the myTouch 3G’s on-screen one, which could take some time getting used to since it’s a bit cramped.
There’s a lot to love about the myTouch 3G, though. It has a very responsive touch screen, a fast and solid Web browser, and plenty of customization options. Head on over to the full review for in-depth analysis.

T-Mobile myTouch 3G adds boasts polish, better design
-
San Francisco Chronicle
The T-Mobile G1 was a phone only a software programmer could love. OK, I exaggerate. T-Mobile sold more than a million of the handsets, the first to sport Google's Android operating system.
Now, T-Mobile, Google and manufacturing partner HTC have teamed up again on the myTouch 3G with Google (yeah, I still don't like saying all of it). This time, the results are much more pleasing to the eye and deliver what many were hoping the first G1 would do.

Google’s Android: Now a Contender
-
BusinessWeek
Android has finally joined the heated battle for dominance of the smartphone market. The Google (GOOG)-designed software platform actually made its first appearance nearly a year ago, but the only Android handset, the T-Mobile G1, was so flawed that it did not offer a fair test. The new Android phones hitting the market this summer and fall give Google and its partners a chance to show their stuff against Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT), BlackBerry (RIMM), Nokia (NOK), and Palm (PALM).
Even in this crowded field I believe Android has a better than decent shot. I've been trying the new myTouch 3G, which costs $200 with a two-year contract (voice and unlimited data from $65 a month). The handset, designed and built by Taiwan's HTC as the Magic and customized by T-Mobile USA, is a slightly stripped-down version of the HTC Hero, which has won rave reviews in Europe and Asia. HTC's Android monopoly will soon end as Motorola (MOT), Samsung, LG, and others bring out their own contenders.

T-Mobile myTouch 3G Gets Official, Preorders Start July 8 [MyTouch 3G]
-
Gizmodo
T-Mobile's second Android phone, the myTouch 3G (previously known as the HTC Magic which we reviewed here), has finally been announced in an official capacity for $200. Its official official name is the "T-Mobile myTouch 3G with Google".
It's basically the same specs as we've seen in other incarnations, and it'll work with T-Mobile's 3G frequencies. We'll take a look at what customizations T-Mobile has put on the phone, but for a general idea of what to expect of this one over the original T-Mobile G1, take a look at our review of the Google Ion.
